Political Journey:

Before attaining the presidency, Dr Ruto served as the Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya from April 3, 2013, to September 12, 2022. However, his political journey commenced with his election as a Member of Parliament for Eldoret North constituency under the Kenya African National Union (KANU) ticket, a position he held for three consecutive terms (1997-2013).

In 2002, Dr Ruto played a pivotal role as a campaigner for Uhuru Kenyatta and KANU. Unfortunately, the election was won by Mwai Kibaki of the National Rainbow Coalition, who consequently became the third President of Kenya. Throughout his time in opposition, Dr Ruto actively participated in steering the Parliamentary Select Committee on Constitutional Reform in the 9th Parliament. His efforts were crucial in assembling a competent team and establishing the necessary structures to initiate Kenya's journey towards a new constitution.

Born on December 21, 1966, in Sambut, Kamagut Location, Uasin Gishu County, Rift Valley, Dr Ruto hails from humble beginnings. He completed his early education at Sambut Primary School before continuing his studies at Wareng Secondary School in Eldoret. He pursued his 'A' Levels at Kapsabet High in Nandi County.
